Mindfulness Seminar

In a time of uncertainty and global crisis, none of us as disciples can afford to not source greater peace and faith from our very depths. This mindfulness seminar is geared towards supporting faculty in deepening their capacity for presence, emotional intelligence, insight and clarity.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS
Presence: Increased presence in the classroom and life.
Flexibility: Greater ability to respond to spontaneous learning opportunities.
Intimacy: An ability to facilitate deeper connection between you and others, including students.
Inspiration: Increased access to flow states and creativity.
Relaxation: Reduce stress and improve mental/emotional health.

Mid-Semester Student Survey

What it asks about: Twelve aspects of teaching that BYU students typically find both "spiritually strengthening and intellectually enlarging." Preview the survey here.

What you do: Send students the email text and survey URL that we provide.

What you get: We analyze your students’ feedback and send you a report outlining areas where you are doing well and ideas for improvement. This report provides more feedback than you get on the official BYU student ratings report, and it gives you time to make adjustments mid-semester to improve your teaching.

"A Little Leavening": Ideas for Colleges and Departments

Just as a “little leaven leaveneth the whole lump” (Galatians 5:9), strategic, periodic focus on the unique mission of BYU is one way to help all of us remember to bathe everything we do in the light of the gospel.

We hope that this document will be useful to college and department leadership as they seek to find what works to support faith and learning in their unique contexts. The ideas here come from focus groups held with all department chairs on campus, in which they shared what they had seen or done that works, as well as other ideas and resources we have collected over time.

Principles and Resources for Supporting BYU Students with Faith Questions and Concerns

When students have serious questions about faith and the gospel, how we treat them is often even more important than the content of what we say. This document provides some principles for how we treat our brothers and sisters when they have faith concerns that trouble them.
